Prairie View's Khadarel Hodge Makes His Mark In The NFL
In a season of uncertainty, Khadarel Hodge has showed why he deserves to be a starter in the National Football League.
Khadarel was born and raised in D’Lo, Mississippi. At Mendenhall high school, Hodge was the starting quarterback and threw for over 3,000 passing yards and ran for over 2,000 yards along with 68 touchdowns. He was selected to the All-State team during his senior season.
Hodge started his college career at Alcorn State but transferred to Hinds Community College after his Freshman year. While at Hinds, he transitioned to wide receiver before transitioning to Prairie View A&M University. During his three seasons at Prairie View, Hodge caught 104 passed for 1,797 yards and 21 touchdowns. During his senior year, Hodge was named to the first team All-SWAC team and was selected as a Black College All-American.
Hodge went undrafted in the 2018 NFL draft. He was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Rams and played in 14 regular season games and three postseason games, including Super Bowl LIII.
The following year, Hodge was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns. Hodge played in all 16 games, catching four passes for 76 yards and led the team with 13 special teams tackles. Hodge was resigned by the Browns for the 2020 season. Hodge was an integral part in helping the Browns make the playoffs for the first time in 18 years.
Hodge is not just an exceptional football player, but he is an incredible person. During the Christmas holiday, he donated money so less fortunate families from his hometown could go on a shopping spree for the holidays.
Hodge has a bright career and a blessed life ahead of him.
