2021 Top 10 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUS)
Every year US News & World Report puts out a list of the top historically black colleges and universities. The rankings measure the quality of the undergraduate education.
To be on the list a school must be listed as part of the US Department of Education’s HBCU registry.
The Higher Education Act of 1965 defines an HBCU as “any historically Black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans.
The criteria in which schools are measured by are outcome measures, graduate indebtedness, assessment by administrators at peer HBCUS, faculty resources, student excellence and alumni giving.
