Forbes' 17th Most Powerful Woman Is An HBCU Grad

Every year Forbes ranks its 100 Most Powerful Women. In 2021, the 17th ranked most powerful woman is Rosalind Brewer, a graduate of HBCU Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Rosalind Brewer is currently the CEO of Walgreens. Previously, she was the CEO of Sam’s Club and the COO of Starbucks. She’s the only black woman leading a S&P 500 company. In 2019, she also became the only black woman to sit on Amazon’s board of directors.

Brewer, a Detroit native, graduated from Cass Technical High School and enrolled in Spelman in 1980. She earned a degree in Chemistry from Spelman.
